Using traditional methods of hand blocking, Wool felt, fine parasisal straw, Sinamay and silk can be used to create the perfect hat for you special occasion.
Wool felt hats are perfect for the winter, especially created in a bright, vibrant colour to lift any winter coat or outfit. Also a perfect accompaniment to your Cheltenham racing outfit for the Festival in March.
Straws can be dyed to match the colour of your outfit and any number of adornments can be added such as flowers, ribbons or feathers making the hat individual. The hats are completely made by hand so no two hats will ever be the same.
Sinamay is a banana fibre derivative; so it can be hand blocked into simple shapes for great impact. These hats are a lighter alternative to straw making them a popular choice at the races and weddings. Sinamay can be used to create flowers and sculptured shapes to dress the crown and the brim of the hat making it unique.
Dupion and Duchess silk hand blocked hats are created bonding silk before blocking; this is perfect if you are having an outfit made as Sharper Millinery can create a hat that matches your outfit by using the same fabrics. We can still make you a silk hat even if your outfit is off the peg as we generally can match the silk. Perfect to match a racing outfit for Royal Ascot in June.
